The auditions are rolling in, and I am having so much fun!! Here's my latest post: I got to audition for my first villain today! And I'm happy to say I rocked it. It's pretty fun being evil. :) Also, I am still so tremendously thankful that I can drive 10 minutes to an audition, rather than 3-6 hours one way (as I did for many years). Never stop giving thanks for what you have. ❤ #audition #time#actress #actorslife #evil #villain #play #give #thanks#lovewhatyoudo — at Space Station Casting Studios. |

Wow, those weeks flew by! It certainly was intensive, and I was nervous for the show, but we pulled it off again! I am loving comedy so much!!! I am so excited to continue on with levels 301 and 401, I'll keep you posted on the details. Here's the post from my acting page:
"Just got a phenomenal haircut from the amazing Juliette at Dej Salon, and now I'm heading off for UCB show number two! Now let's see if I can remember the massive amount of information that was just crammed into my head over the past two weeks... 😬 #actress #actorslife #improv#comedy #ucb #graduation #show #201 #heregoesnothing" |

Today I started the intensive for UCB level 201 in improv comedy. It is a lot of information to cover in only two weeks, but I am excited to buckle down and learn! Here goes nothing!

This afternoon was my first improv performance show at UCB, and it was so much fun!!! We were all quite nervous, as it really felt as if we had only taken a crash course and were being thrown out onto stage, but it went so well! Everyone performed admirably, and there was such a great response from the audience. Lots of laughter being shared today! I am excited to jump into level two as soon as possible! |

As of today, I have signed with Kylie MacKenzie of Artistic Talent as my commercial agent. She is amazing! I did a workshop with her a few weeks ago, and I immediately loved her. Aside from just being a wonderful person, I have been quite impressed with how she runs her agency (which she started), and invests in her clients. I am so excited to see where this partnership will take us!

I am now in my 8th month of studying at Anthony Meindl's Actor Workshop. It began with a 6 week intensive course, which met twice a week for working classes, lecture and observation. It was a transformational time, causing a major shift in how I work. After the intensive, I entered into Phase 1 of ongoing classes at the studio, developing listening skills, learning to be fully present, taking huge risks, and being fully committed in our work. The intensive class format tackles scene study, analysis, and cold reading.
I have had the privilege of working with a variety of talented teachers, such as Anthony Meindl, Sean Riley, Katelin Chesna and Barbara Howlin. There are many opportunities to participate in additional classes and workshops at the studio, such as Commercial Acting 101 with Bill Coelius and the Audition Sides Drill Class with Nina Rausch. Those two classes have further developed my skills, by providing personalized instruction, specific audition exercises, and on-camera feedback.
My time at this studio has been absolutely transformational, changing my life and how I relate to the world around me, and turning me into an entirely new actress!

Today I had the privilege of attending a Q&A with renowned acting teacher Margie Haber, and internationally acclaimed, award-winning director Robert Allen Ackerman. Between the two of them, they have worked closely with incredible actors such as Al Pacino, Meryl Streep, John Malkovich, Sean Penn, Helen Mirren, Anne Bancroft, Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon, Glenn Close, Halle Barry and many more.
During the session we discussed taking control of your career, being proactive, and being devoted to working and improving yourself. He talked about the difference between preparation and practice, and how essential it is to do your homework, know the character and the relationship, and be specific. They both emphasized the importance of living in this "little slice of life," being creative and having fun with it. And above all, being patient while you are being consistent. We all get discouraged, but if we continue to work, play, learn and grow, our dreams will become reality!
Footage from the Q&A will be included in a documentary feature film he is currently shooting about acting and life in the business.

I have attended multiple casting director workshops during my time in LA, but the one I just participated in with Jane Jenkins stood out for many reasons. She has worked with huge names in Hollywood, discovering and casting Robin Wright in Princess bride, and even auditioning (but not hiring) stars like George Clooney and Brad Pitt!
Jane's insight into the business was invaluable, and helped me to realize how many factors go into the casting process, reminding me not to be so hard on myself. What she values in an actor are being unique, interesting, honest and real. She gave wonderful advice on ways to polish your craft, things to study, and how important it is to really get to know your character. She was so genuine and encouraging as well, advising us to surprise ourselves, take risks, be persistent, and do our homework.
We were left with these encouraging words:
"There are a lot of different ways into a working career. Don't diminish the dream!!"
